You always use the simple past when you say when something happened, so it is associated with certain past time expressions.
Frequency: often, sometimes, always
Examples:
I sometimes walked home at lunchtime.
I often brought my lunch to school.
A definite point in time: last week, when I was a child, yesterday, six weeks ago
Examples:
We saw a good film last week.
Yesterday, I arrived in Geneva.
She finished her work at seven o'clock
I went to the theater last night
An indefinite point in time: the other day, ages ago, a long time ago
Examples:
People lived in caves a long time ago.
Note: the word ago is a useful way of expressing the distance into the past. It is placed after the period of time: a week ago, three years ago, a minute ago.
THIS IS AN EXAMPLE OF SIMPLE PAST TENSE IN A PARAGRAPH:
MY FIRST DAY AT MY CAMPUS
I told you about my first day at the campus. It was a day before my first day on campus. I was very nervous and uncomfortable. Maybe it was because I was very curious and didn't know anything. The worse, the night before my first day on campus. I could not sleep. I did't know why ... maybe because I was so impatient waiting tomorrow.
And finally I slept in the middle of the night and woke up late.
I was in a hurry to do obligations, took a shower, ate and got ready to go to campus first.
when I leaved, time was tight. so I quickly walked without paying no attention to the road ... yeah like a crazy person who who chased first time. and when it arrived, it turned out that our class didn't enter.
I think that’s all about my explanation for today. I hope readers can more understand about SIMPLE PAST TENSE after read my blog. I know still there are mistakes in my blog. Please forgive me for these mistakes. Oke I think enough. Wassalamu'alaikum.
